Brief update
Its been a while, so here's a quick update ...
- GermanPod101.com has now launched! Head on over to collect your 50% discount to celebrate the site launch!
- Have been working on adding a US version of the Japanese book guide, and improving the book descriptions so they're easier to compare. This is still an ongoing project, so apologies if you run across any broken links in the new US area ...
- Notes haven't been progressing much, but kanji has thanks to cunning and free spaced-learning system Anki. This is a very funky little piece of kit I'm hoping to write a full review for soon. In the meantime, you can try it out using this deck for hiragana and katakana. Enjoy!
That's it for now. Recently another big project has taken up a chunk of my time, and I've had to choose between studying for the JLPT or updating this site. Hopefully that will resolve soon. You can be the first to know when that happens by registering for free e-mail updates, here!

This time last week I was coming back from the Chinese New Year celebrations in London (which were very cool), but I think the exertion must've pushed me over the edge as I've had a nasty cold ever since that is still refusing to budge.
Nonetheless, I have finally found an approach that looks to be working with the notes.
Cunning goals for 2008
During the week I had a go at writing a nice entry about resolutions and choosing goals that resonate with your true aspirations. Unfortunately I ended up with a page of old guff, so instead I'm going to approach this the straightforward way. Here's what I'm going to do and why.
The Cunning Linguist 2007 Review
Back in January 2007, Aaron Kuroiwa of “LeTutor’s Guide to Languages” challenged fellow bloggers to publish their language resolutions. Being a complete fool I accepted the challenge, and was even sufficiently audacious to invite you to “whinge at me” should I fail to meet them.
I fear the chimes of Big Ben this year will be greeted with humble pie rather than a sparkling beverage; my resolutions were as follows
